Waste to Energy MBT Plant

Reliably delivering recyclables, fuel, heat and power to society

Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) Plant

Maximise return on your MBT investment and plant uptime with Kiverco

A Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) plant is a municipal residual waste processing facility that combines mechanical pre-sorting with a form of biological treatment. The mechanical treatment component of the plant is similar in nature to a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and separates different materials to allow for recovery of recyclables and production of a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) product. The biological treatment may include composting, bio-drying or anaerobic digestion to create compost like output (CLO) or Biogas for heat and power.

The Kiverco MBT Waste Solution.

Kiverco deliver high quality, mechanical treatment plants for the effective recovery of recyclables and efficient production of RDF / SRF from the residual waste stream.

Kiverco MBT plants are flexible in design and can combine bag opening, shredding, manual and / or automated optical sorting with the latest in screen, air and metal separation technology.

What products can be recovered or produced?

Materials such as metals, plastics and other recyclable products are extracted from the waste at the mechanical treatment stage using automated separation equipment and manual sorting. Material which cannot be recycled will be used to produce a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF).

Composting of the biodegradable fraction produces a compost-like output (CLO). After a period of stabilisation, the CLO is further screened using a Kiverco mobile trommel. Air separation using a Kiverco Density Separator may also be used to remove any paper and plastics leaving a clean final product.

Anaerobic digestion may also be used to create a Biogas which can be used to heat and power local factories and homes.

With a Kiverco MBT plant receiving municipal waste, you can profit from increased recycling rates, reduced landfill disposal costs and the creation of renewable energy all whilst supporting the principles of the waste hierarchy.
